Default carrier.pri changes not getting reflected, why?

I am from India using an iPhone 4 CDMA version with Reliance network here. Currently the phone is running IOS 5.0.1, JB, CommCenter patched.

The problem is how can we confirm whether the changes done in carrier.pri is getting reflected or not. For example, i tried editing the MDN no. option in carrier.pri, updated the version in carrier.prl for the pri file, reboot, but then it still shows the old number if i go to Settings->Phone. So i think carrier.pri changes are not getting reflected. Am i missing something?

so, did you mange to get it reflected? am trying the same and fail. I think we have to increase the pri version in the carrier.plist, I don't want to do it cause my pri file has setting am sure they are not for my carrier and to get OTA update again it will cost me money. My carrier won't update but to specific people who charge us for such things. stupid carrier manager. not helping its customers spend more money on the network, they make things hard.
