Keep get this message while using the eris programming tutoria. Can anyone help?

I FOLLOWED THE TUTORIAL COMPLETELY I THINK. I USED MY SCANS AND THE ONES IN THE TUTORIAL. I ZEROED OUT ESN AND MEID AND I KEEP GETTING THIS MESSAGE IN QDXM DIAG TX ITEM:
ESN=0x00000000
DIAG RX ITEM:
ESN=0X8011XXXX STILL GIVES ESN OF WHT I WANT TO ZERO OUT

IT GIVES ME THE SAME THING FOR MEID. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG. IT WILL NOT WRITE NEW ESN.
