Verizon Wireless has teamed up with Wilson Electronics and the two submitted a proposal to the Federal Communications Commission regarding the design and installation of in-building wireless cell signal boosters. The proposal addresses concerns laid out by the FCC earlier this year regarding cell boosters. Verizon and Wilson believe their proposal will aid in the development and deployment of cell boosters that don't harm nearby wireless networks. They companies created three categories into which they believe boosters should fall: small boosters used by consumers in their homes; larger boosters used in businesses; and carrier-installed boosters using FCC-licensed spectrum. Each category has its own rules for developing and using the boosters. The FCC has not yet made any decisions regarding the use of cell signal boosters.
