Okay, I have a Virgin Mobile Rumor 2 (VM265) and I've installed what seem to be the latest LG CDMA USB serial and modem drivers (4.9.7) and the latest version of BitPim (1.0.7) on Windows 7 (64-bit). I was able to get my SPC code and enable the port in my phone's ##PORT# menu. BitPim is able to detect an "Other CDMA phone" on an "LGE CDMA USB Serial Port" (COM8) and communicate with it. So far, so good.
The problem is, when I try to expand the file system tree in the middle pane, nothing happens. According to the log, it's succeeding in opening the port and putting the phone in brew mode. The log goes on to list a bunch of found subdirs, but when it tries to list actual files it says "Failed to read filesystem" and simply stops after less than a second. It never populates the file system tree. I also see an error in the log that says "USB support is not available" even though, as I said, I did go into the ##PORT# menu and enable the phone's port. Here are the relevant log entries:
Based on my research, it seems like there's some kind of "USB unlock code" that's different from the SPC code. It seems to be in the form of seven digits. How can I find that code for my phone, or how else can I unblock the USB port so I can access the file system? While trying to detect the phone, the BitPim log also shows this string of information:Code:18:53:15.415 COM8: USB support is not available 18:53:15.417 COM8: Opening port COM8, 115200 baud, timeout 3.000000, hardwareflow 0, softwareflow 0 18:53:15.417 COM8: Open of comm port suceeded 18:53:15.417 LG-VX8600: Attempting to contact phone 18:53:15.417 LG-VX8600: Listing subdirs in dir: '' 18:53:15.417 LG-VX8600: X recurse=0 18:53:15.430 LG-VX8600: Now in brew mode 18:53:15.436 LG-VX8600: subdir=.efs_private 18:53:15.440 LG-VX8600: subdir=CGPS_ME 18:53:15.447 LG-VX8600: subdir=CGPS_PE 18:53:15.453 LG-VX8600: subdir=DB 18:53:15.460 LG-VX8600: subdir=Dcam 18:53:15.467 LG-VX8600: subdir=VirginAlert 18:53:15.473 LG-VX8600: subdir=VoiceDB 18:53:15.477 LG-VX8600: subdir=alarm 18:53:15.483 LG-VX8600: subdir=bluetooth 18:53:15.490 LG-VX8600: subdir=brew 18:53:15.494 Failed to read filesystem 18:53:15.500 LG-VX8600: Listing files in dir: '' 18:53:15.513 Failed to read filesystem
I redacted the "esn_file" value with a string of "x"s for paranoia reasons. I'm not sure what the number 5478428 represents, but since it's seven digits long I tried to use it as the USB unlock code, but it didn't work. Any ideas? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.Code:Detect Phone result: {'COM8': {'mode_modem': None, 'LG6190_version_data': None, 'esn_file': 'xxxxxxxx', 'lgpbinfo': None, 'LG6200_version_data': None, 'ams_version.txt': None, 'mode_brew': True, 'firmwareresponse': None, 'esn': None, 'model': None, 'brew_version.txt': 'VM265, VMU, 04, 3.1.5.145, 203, 5478428, 203, 5478428, 20090714, QM7\xc2\xf7\r\n', 'firmware_version': None, 'manufacturer': None}
I've searched this forum (and the rest of the Internets) extensively. I can't find the answer to this question anywhere, but if it has already been answered somewhere or if I've posting in the wrong section, do me a favor and let it slide just this once instead of jumping down the newbie's throat, okay? It doesn't make you look cool.
in case any one is still looking for this same code, I think I know what that code is. I found it on youtube : 3733929.... the guy on the video just types it in like that and it works for him.I've searched this forum (and the rest of the Internets) extensively.
