Ota flashing?

Howdy! I have a ton of questions about flashing my evo since I'm new to flashing and I'm pretty good with computers but I don't think I gave the nerve for this yet, but anywho is its flashing safe? I saw a site that said it can be done remotely and just want to know if I went that route would everything work?

P.S. I'm leaving t-mobile to go to cricket. And none of the cricket stores will flash it for me?????
