Unhappy after a remote flasher, how do I disable proxied traffic settings? 7730L or 6620L

I don't want to have my verizon data proxied by any means via untrusted third party. I plan to run TorGuard or PIA from my laptop. I don't want stacked latencies.

How can I determine from within device settings if the flashing service has applied proxying?

Look for 'VPN Pass-thru' or something similar to be toggled to
on' in the device advanced settings.
