Blackberry 8330 ESN issue when upgrading

Does anyone have any idea why the ESN on a phone changes to MEID when you try and upgrade the OS on the phone. I currently have 4.3 OS on my 8330 and whenever i try and upgrade either to OS 5 or even OS 4.5 everything goes well but when i check the status my phone has changed to MEID. I wouldnt mind the change if my phone would keep working but it doesnt. I can still make calls but not receive any. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

I personally haven't encountered a blackberry that changes from an ESN to MEID upon loading newer firmware. Nevertheless, you could update the phone and have your carrier replace the ESN on your account to the new MEID. That should fix the calling issues.

Yeah i might just try that cause its already happened with 2 of my 8330s i have right now. One is from verizon and the other from Bell and it seemed to stump me on how it changes to MEID just by upgrading the OS. Thanks for the info
