Facebook this week has done away with two separate apps, Lifestage and Groups. The Lifestage app, launched less than 12 months ago, was aimed at teens. Facebook hoped it would gain usage among Snapchat fans, but it never truly took off. The Groups app was available to Android and iOS devices and was meant to help manage group activities. Facebook decided, after digesting user feedback about that app, that it simply wasn't a good stand-alone offering. Facebook says registered users will no longer be able to log into their app starting September 1. Facebook is encouraging Groups users to take advantage of the same tools, which are baked into the full Facebook mobile app.
