Thanx to rainabba @ XDA you can have root and keep your Evo stock with sense..

Just visit [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] from your phone, download the apk, and run it.

Seriously, that is it. Once this is done, you'll have basic root (enough to run apps requiring root and to access su in a shell).

This DOES NOT provide any sort of custom recovery so it won't allow you to flash custom ROMs.
If you're not sure how this would benefit you, then don't do it...
