Facebook has begun informing people that photos privately synced from mobile phones to the social network will soon be deleted. Facebook allowed people to automatically backup photos from phones to its servers and store them privately for a time. It is these collections that Facebook is targeting, not photos that have been shared publicly in posts. Facebook wants people to use its Moments photo-management app and this change is meant to provide some motivation. Facebook has already moved users' photos to Moments, but people who don't download the Moments app and log in before July 7 will lose access to whatever photos are stored privately on Facebook. Alternately, people who don't want to use Moments may download the images to their computer. Moments is free to download from the Google Play Store and iTunes App Store.
