HTC has taken to this year’s Mobile World Congress to unleash a new lineup of mid-range smartphones with designer looks, modest hardware, and (hopefully) decent prices. Alongside a new, mid-range HTC One smartphone, the latest HTC Desire smartphones come in three versions at MWC, all with a one-of-a-kind paint design on the back of the device. The HTC Desire lineup includes the HTC Desire 530, 630, and 825, all being featured at Mobile World Congress 2016. The 530 and 630 are similar in most features, and come in a standard 5-inch form factor. Both will come with a 720p Super HD display, obsolete by 2016 standards where even mid-range devices like the Moto X-see a 1080p or greater display resolution. They come with a lanyard attachment, and have a camera on the top left that’s reminiscent in design to an iPod Touch. Powering the Desire 530 is a modest Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 1.0GHz processor, 1.5GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. There’s not much to be seen here, though the Desire 630 isn’t much faster, with a Snapdragon 400 1.6GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. The Desire 530 features an 8-megapixel camera, while the Desire 630 boosts up to a 13-megapixel camera. Both can support up to 1080p Full HD video, but you’ll have to watch it downscaled on the 720p display. It’s also likely that the Desire 630 won’t reach America, as it includes a dual-SIM technology usually seen exclusively with European models. The Desire 825 is the bigger brother of the two, featuring a 5.5-inch phablet form factor for those who want a budget phone with a big screen. We really mean a budget though, as the Desire 825 also has just a 720p HD display, much alike last-years budget-minded ZTE Grand X Max+, meaning a really big, zoomed up feel on the smartphone, compared to the more vivid and higher resolution experience you’d get from LG’s latest flagship, the LG G5. The Snapdragon 400 1.6GHz processor is matched with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. There’s also a large 2,700mAh battery, which coupled with a low-resolution display promises good battery performance. All Desire phones can include the unique “micro splash” paint design that HTC says is unique to each and every phone built, designed with special nozzles that spray colorful dots on the phone’s rear plastic casing. It is optional though, in case you want your smartphone to not look like-someone spilled something on it. It’s certainly a unique look, though it might be an acquired taste.
