I know many of you have had problems when flashing from one ROM to another, where some leftover data from the old ROM causes issues with the new. This seems to be an issue mostly affecting Windows phones. There is a function out there called "Task 29". I'm sure the old hands have heard of it and even used it on occasion. In essence, it clears almost all pre-existing data off the ROM in the phone. Once done, there is no OS and the phone won't boot. But you do have a clean slate to work with when installing new ROMs. So you have to be able to put the phone into bootloader and flash the ROM you want. No silly Sprint logo or Verizon label just after flashing a Cricket ROM for example. Just doesn't look professional, and if that is still hanging out in the ROM you just flashed, who knows what else may be lurking in the background.
