Based out of China, Meitu isn’t exactly a household name in many parts of the world. Even so, the company has made-a huge splash by unveiling the selfie lover’s dream smartphone, the Meitu V4, reports PhoneArena. Even though the phone is plenty powerful, with its octa-core MediaTek MT6795 processor and 3GB of RAM, the V4’s claim to fame is the whopping 21-megapixel front-facing camera.-With that level of resolution, this camera could easily put to shame those found on-so-called “selfie smartphones,” such as the HTC Desire Eye and the Sony Xperia C3.-Of course, megapixels don’t tell the whole story, but they do at least help paint a picture of what the V4’s front camera sensor can accomplish. Taking a peek further underneath the hood reveals 64GB of internal memory, though it’s not clear whether this is expandable through a Micro SD card slot. In addition, the V4 is 4G LTE-capable, though your mileage may vary if you decide to import one for yourself. Finally, the V4 runs MeiOS 2.5 on top of Android 5.1 Lollipop, which, like many other Chinese smartphone manufacturers’ Android skins, takes a cue from iOS by excluding an app drawer. Meitu didn’t stop there, however, as the company also announced the V4s, which steps the screen down to a 4.7-inch, 1,280 x 720 resolution display. Under the hood is an octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor, combined with 3GB of RAM. You’ll also find the same 64GB of internal memory, with both front and rear cameras stepping things down to 13 megapixels. Finally, and somewhat-disappointingly, the V4s runs MeiOS 2 on top of 2013’s Android 4.4 KitKat. If you’re intrigued by the selfie monster that is the V4, you can pick one up in pink, white, or green for $548. If the smaller V4s interests you more, it’s available for $376. Either way, expect to pay a bit more, since the phones will only be sold in China.
