The HTC One A9 might lose its flagship status sooner than we thought. A new photo leak from China’s microblogging site Weibo reveals some tantalizing hints about the One X9. According to the leak, the X9 sports Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor and BoomSound speakers. While not confirmed by HTC, the new device gives us hope for the company’s future chances in the smartphone market. The 5-inch 2,560 x 1,440-pixel display would be a large upgrade on the 1,920 x 1,080-pixel screen on the One A9. As would the Snapdragon 820 processor, which is expected to launch soon. HTC also appears to have included BoomSound speakers again, which were missing from the One A9. Other notable rumored specs include a 23-megapixel camera, likely to be Sony’s Exmor sensor, and a 4-ultrapixel front-facing camera. The leaked promo didn’t show what version of Android the One X9 is running, but it appears to have capacitive buttons. The promo tagline reads, “Packed with city smarts,” which could mean that it’ll have a fingerprint sensor and NFC tech to support mobile payments. HTC doesn’t mention it in the promo, but the One A9 supports mobile payments, so we assume the X9 would follow suit.
