In its announcement of second-quarter financial results, BlackBerry has confirmed plans to release an Android slider smartphone, to be called the Priv. "Priv combines the best of BlackBerry security and productivity with the expansive mobile application ecosystem available on the Android platform," said BlackBerry CEO John Chen. BlackBerry expects to launch the device "late in the calendar year," with further details to follow in the coming weeks.
