Despite having launched two weeks ago, it is only since Saturday, September 19 that the payment system has been available on the Play Store. There have been complications with Google's mobile payment system Android Pay since its launch, but now it appears that the major problems have been smoothed out. Users can forget about the old Google Wallet app, which was previously needed to use Android Pay, as there is now a standalone app available directly from the Google Play Store.
