Verizon Wireless is weighing whether or not to sell its cell towers to a third party, reports Reuters. Earlier this month Verizon's Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo indicated the company is interested in such an idea. Verizon has hired TAP Advisors to help it plan for and execute the sale, according to sources cited by Reuters. AT&T sold its cell towers to Crown Castle last year for $4.85 billion. Sprint has also divested the management of its cell towers. Verizon has yet to make any official announcements.
