Well I don't usually "RESTORE" them that way
When restoring a device I usually run new firmware on it because I do things that can corrupt the firmware but not the NV's. If I were going to do something that could corrupt the NV files like we used to do on the 2200 to change the MEID's I would back up the NV's on that device and save them so I could write them back to the device in the event I screwed something up.
Doing this always worked.
What didn't always work was when I screwed up a 2200 and then pulled the NV's from ANOTHER 2200 and wrote them to the one I screwed up.
Most of the time I would end up with a Brick.
Thats why I started backing them up off the device BEFORE messing with it.
I know DFS includes some standered NV sets you can download from their servers you can try them.
