The latest addition to Microsoft's growing tablet range boasts a 12-inch screen, an all-day battery and a perfect blend of productivity and entertainment use. At the official launch event in New York on Tuesday, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella set the scene by explaining that the reason why the company moved into the tablet space was not to compete with the likes of Apple and Android, but to offer consumers a device that can give them the best features of a tablet and the benefits of a notebook or laptop computer. And the end result, the Surface Pro 3 is indeed impressive, on paper at least. Introduced to the assembled journalists by corporate vice president for Surface Computing Panos Panay, the new 12-inch tablet was described as the device that helps people avoid having to take a gamble on buying either a tablet or notebook computer.
