Two of Germany's leading network operators are using the technology fair and conference to debut encryption apps that will allow their customers to make voice calls in private. Vodafone describes Secure Call as an effective weapon against phone tapping and will be coming first to Android handsets and then later to Apple and Windows Phone devices. The app, which is expected to launch before the end of 2014, will cost €10 (US$14) per month, per user and will be exclusive to Germany. At the same event, Deutsche Telekom T-Mobile, Vodafone's biggest direct competitor in Germany, is also set to offer the first demonstrations of its own consumer-focused encryption app.
