At the Geneva Motor Show, Apple and partnering carmakers will demonstrate CarPlay, a version of iOS designed specifically for use within a vehicle. Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo will be the first to show off the new system. CarPlay allows drivers to connect their iPhone to a dashboard display screen, which presents a simplified, lighter version of the smartphone's interface, offering access to all of its apps and content. Apple is launching CarPlay as an alternative to Mirrorlink, the technology that reproduces the interface and features of Android or Windows Phone devices on in-car touchscreen displays.
