YouTube today announced that smartphone and tablet owners will soon be able to cache YouTube videos on their device for offline viewing. YouTube said that videos can only be stored for "a short time," though it didn't provide more details. By default, all videos will permit offline caching. Content owners who want to prevent their videos from being downloaded, even temporarily, will be able to disable the feature on a video-by-video basis. The feature is expected to arrive in November.
