If BlackBerry is getting sold off, it will likely have to look for help outside of Canada’s borders. Bloomberg reports that BlackBerry has scheduled a meeting with the Canadian government to discuss particulars of the Investment Canada Act, which sets rules for Canadian companies that get bought out by foreign entities. A foreign buyout of BlackBerry is particularly tricky because the firm has a lot of critical security infrastructure and it still has a lot of contracts with both the Canadian and American governments. Chinese electronics giant Huawei has already said that it has no interest in BlackBerry, while Microsoft has reportedly been keeping an eye on the firm as it tries to find a buyer.
