Verizon Wireless is looking to Canada as one possible avenue through which it can expand its business. The company is speaking to both Wind Mobile and Mobilicity, which are newer, smaller wireless network operators that offer service in Canada. Wind has about 600,000 customers and is valued at approximately $670 million. The number of Mobilicity's customers isn't known, but it is valued at about $476 million. According to sources cited by the Wall Street Journal, Verizon has gone as far as to sign a non-disclosure agreement with Mobilicity, though any talks it has with Mobilicity would depend on separate negotiations Verizon is holding with Wind. A Verizon executive recently said that the company was considering an expansion into Canada, but the company declined to provide specific details about its plans. AT&T has also eyed making investments in or acquisitions of wireless network operators outside the U.S. as a means by which to grow its business.
