During SXSW Music, Muve Music from Cricket Wireless (@Cricketnation) caught up with RDGLDGRN (pronounced red-gold-green), a D.C. band on the rise which made their live TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel last month. Their unique mix of go-go, indie rock and hip-hop, caught the attention of fellow Northern Virginian Dave Grohl who wound up playing on their whole album. In this video clip, they talk about how they met each other, found their sound and share the story behind their Dave Grohl collaboration.

Full clip here:

“We grew up in the D.C. area ... On the radio, at 10 o’clock, they would start playing go-go music and everyone would get hyped. There’s a lot of energy there behind it. We always love it. We played with go-go bands back home and they started influencing our music. So we mixed that with indie rock and that’s what we came up with.”

“We made that song [‘I Love Lamp’] really quickly and it turned out to be really great… When it came around Dave Grohl got wind of it, he was kind of interested to see if he could play on the record and we asked him, actually, and then he was excited about coming in and doing that.”
