At SXSW, Muve Music and Cricket Wireless (@MiCricket) spoke with Miami-born artist Kat Dahlia. Kat expressed how her Cuban heritage influences her current sound, how she was discovered and what fans can look forward to this year.

“Growing up with Cuban parents, you grow up with a lot of salsa, merengue and a lot of influences from Celia Cruz, Buena Vista Social Club and Tito Puente."

You can hear all of those influences come to frution on Kat's single "Gangsta," available on Muve Music.

“I was working as a waitress at a Cuban restaurant in Jersey, ready to head back to Miami. One day, this woman walks in and she hears some of the music. Next day she walked in with my rep at the time, I played her three songs and she signed me right on the spot.”
