Try this you have to hold volume up and power at the same time, and use the stylus to perform a soft reset but it should trigger it to bootloader
I would also do this while ur phone is off since i don not believe you can get into manual bootload while it is on.

If that doesn't work there is a cab on ppcgeeks that TMZ posted a while back that will do it also.

The utility is putting it into bootloader and it is showing a progress bar. It stays at 0% for about three or four minutes then says the 262 error. Am I not putting the rom in the correct folder? I just have everything on my desktop and then go from there.

I appreciate all the help I am getting so far.

OK post the following:
Everything it says in the tricolored bootloader screen.
What ROM are you flashing
What is the radio version of the phone.
Also who is the original carrier?

I am using Dex's ROM from this thread.
It is a US Cellular phone
The radio version on the phone now is: 1.07.06F
The current ROM version is: 1.08.573.1

On the bootloader screen it says:

RAPH800
SPL-0.40.0000
MicroP-Hermann (LED) v0c85
MicroP-Hermann (KEY) V0685
PSOC-Raph STAGE_EVT v20

At the bottom it says
Serial

OK, The reason you are unable to flash a custom ROM is the SPL 0.40 is a stock SPL, you will first need to unlock it using the .37 unlocker from here
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
then you can flash custom ROMS.
Your radio is a GPS radio and it appears you are running a stock WM 6.1 ROM currently.
