Motorola today nixed a lawsuit it filed against ***** in August of this year. The complaint, which was filed with the U.S. International Trade Commission, centered on seven patents that Motorola accused ***** of violating. It was the second such lawsuit filed by Motorola against *****. The first complaint still stands. Motorola provided no reason for withdrawing the second complaint, but said, "There are no agreements between Motorola and *****, written or oral, express or implied, concerning the subject matter of this investigation." This means the companies have not settled the matter out of court, because by law they'd have to disclose such an agreement. The ITC had already agreed to investigate Motorola's claims against *****, but ***** and the ITC did not oppose Motorola's withdrawal of the complaint. Motorola is owned by Google, which makes the Android smartphone operating system.
