Apple revealed today that European customers will be able to purchase an adapter than allows the iPhone 5 to connect to microUSB cables (pictured). A new adapter is available from Apple's U.K. web site that will connect microUSB cables to the iPhone 5's Lightning port. European markets have been more strict about Union-wide use of standardized ports. Most cell phones worldwide ship with microUSB ports. It's unclear if the microUSB adapter will be made available to U.S. consumers. Apple is offering two adapters in the U.S. that will connect the Lighting port to the 30-pin connector that has been used by Apple for nearly 10 years. The adapters cost $29 and $39.
