Sprint to Use Wi-Fi Offloading Technology

Sprint today said that part of its Network Vision plan is to add Wi-Fi offloading technology to its Wi-Fi equipped smartphones and other devices. This will allow smartphones to autmatically transition from 3G/4G networks to Wi-Fi and back as appropriate depending on coverage and network availability. Sprint believes offloading data traffic to Wi-Fi will help reduce congestion on its 3G/4G networks.
