[Only registered and activated users can see links] Research In Motion today announced the BlackBerry Torch 9860/9850, a brand new smartphone that has a 3.7-inch touch display with a software keyboard. The 9860/9850 has four physical keys below the screen, as well as an optical trackpad for on-screen navigation. Other features include a 5 megapixel camera with flash and autofocus, 1.2GHz processor, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. It comes with 4GB of internal storage and supports microSD cards up to 32GB. It runs the new BlackBerry 7 operating system, which RIM says includes support for advanced gaming and BlackBerry Messenger 6. The 9860/9850 comes in several configurations, including a dual-mode CDMA/UMTS device that supports networks such as Verizon and Sprint's, as well as the networks of operators in Europe. The GSM-only version comes in two variants, one quad-band GSM/EDGE and quad-band 800/850/1900/2100MHz HSPA+ (AT&T), as well as 900/1700/2100MHz UMTS (T-Mobile). The 9860/9850 will be available in select markets later this month. Pricing was not announced.
