LG Rumor using LG Banter firmware

I was wondering what my risks are in flashing my Rumor to the US Cellular Banter firmware. I am assuming it will brick the phone, so I haven't tried it yet. If anyone else has tried it let me know.

Well is not hard to crossflash that phone, You need lgnpst and uscellular fimware.

Yeah I got that stuff, but I think the area I am having problems with is getting the right driver. I am trying it on a fresh xp machine right now. Maybe I'll be able to get it working with a fresh start.

All LG use the same drivers.

I got the LN510.dll registered. Got the 4.0.9 stuff installed. Got LGNPST_CT.exe working. I renamed the uscc tot to .bin and tried to flash. Got a utilcom error and am rebooting the computer now. I will try again in a bit.

Damn...Still getting the utilcom error. I am going to try reinstalling lgnpst...

I only have LGNPST_GenericModels_Ver_4_0_9_0.msi installed and I do not have the components...possibly I need that??? I will be searching for that right now!

Yep, got the components installed and I have gotten passed that error. Now I am getting an error on invalid bin...

Got it working! LG Rumor Touch on LG Banter firmware!

Renaming tot to bin is a no no. You need to put *.* in the filename and then click open. This will show all the files and then you can select the tot file...Thanks again 123456&!

So in a nutshell.

Files needed:
LGUSBModemDriver_WHQL_Eng_Ver_4.8.1.exe
LGNPST_GenericModels_Ver_4_0_9_0.msi..
LGUN510.rar -- USCC Banter Firmware
Right_Click_Register_DLL.rar -- Handy but not necessary
LGNPST_1.2.zip -- Some flavor of this. You need the Lab version...basically you need the exe that is LGNPST_CT.exe. This took me a bit to get working, but eventually it did.
LN510.dll -- After you have the genericmodels above installed you can register this dll. You will get errors if you dont have that installed...threw me for a loop for a while. This needs to be registered before LGNPST_CT.exe will work

bad mistake you don;t need to renamed the tot to bin, that;s why it does not work

Yeah, my bad mistake. Things have been working well on the phone. Everything works as if it was a banter.

Hey 123456&,

Do you know of any other firmwares that I could try to cross flash on the Rumor Touch? Something that may allow for third party Java apps?

I am currently going back to the Sprint Rumor Touch Firmware now that I got all the US Cellular programming settings saved. I'll keep posting as I find new things.

Data I could not get working. I found a post by someone saying the Sprint data will not work on most other networks. This is because Sprint uses a totally different authentication for data and is baked into the firmware. So I am going back to the lg banter uscc firmware.
