PayPal Proffers Peer-to-Peer Payments via NFC

PayPal today announced a new mobile payment product that makes use of the NFC (near-field communication) capability of the Google Nexus S smartphone. According to PayPal, the new NFC-enabled Android widget lets phone users pay and get paid by simply tapping their phones together. Both the payer and the payee will need to have their own PayPal accounts. To start, the NFC peer-to-peer payment service will work only between two Nexus S handsets. The feature will be rolled out later this summer. PayPal said to expect more mobile payment services to surface in the coming months.
