The worst kept smartphone secret of the year has finally and mercifully been unveiled, and to no one's surprise... there aren't many surprises. As expected, the Galaxy Note 9 is basically a spec-sheet refresh of the Note 8 that ticks off the obligatory boxes, borrows a few of the S9+'s tricks, and brings a brand new S Pen to the party. Oh, and it starts at $1,000.
That's a lot of money for a phone that looks nearly identical to last year's model, save one change: the location of the fingerprint sensor. It's now below the camera rather than next to it. When it launched the Galaxy S9 in February, Samsung made it clear that this was a "tock" year for its Galaxy flagship phones, so even before everything was leaked about it, we didn't have game-changing expectations about the Note 9. In fact, we probably could have guessed at the specs six months ago:
