HOW TO HARD RESET MOTOROLA i1 OPUS

i1 - Master Clear (Factory Data Reset) Internal and External

Master Clear / Factory Data Reset settings feature on the i1 is a tool used to remove everything that was imported, added or installed on the device. Keep in mind, when using this feature; everything is deleted. Nothing stored on the MicroSD will be affected.


To reset your phone to factory settings and erase all the data on your phone,


Touch the app tab, in the home screen to open the app menu.
Touch Settings
Touch SD card & phone storage
Touch Master Clear

Warning: All data on your phone will be deleted.

External Reset (Hard Reset) instructions using external keys:

You should only perform a Hard Reset / External key Master Clear as a last resort on the i1. Once performed, you will need to re-add email and marketplace applications previously stored into the handset.

This sequence may not work for Southern Linc i1 handsets. Handsets will need to be reflashed by dealer or repair center if you need to complete a hard reset and are unable with the sequences below.



Use Cases:

If the handset consistently powers up but becomes completely frozen. (Try to take out battery for a while and remove SDcard and power back on as workaround before attemtping external reset)


A Hard reset has the same effect as a Master Clear (Factory data reset)

Master Clear is a tool used to remove everything that was imported, added or installed on the device. Keep in mind, when using this feature; everything is deleted. Nothing stored on the MicroSD or SIM will be affected.


To reset the your phone to factory settings and erase all the data on the phone using external key sequence:

1. Power phone off


2. Press and hold the following buttons at the same time:

· Volume Up and Down, Green "send button" and Center "OK" button

3. Press "Red" Power on/End call button while still holding the other buttons

4. Release all buttons.


5. You will see Motorola emblem appear followed by an image of an arrow going from handset to the phone. This process may take a few minutes. Do not pull battery or power off handset.

Reset may take several minutes.
6. Handset will power cycle on its own. When coming back up, the Motorola emblem will reappear.

7. Let phone complete power up process.

8. Once complete, you will start back at the Setup Wizard to input all their previously used credentials. You will still need to do a Master Clear through the i1 settings menu at this point to bring back carrier features, so you can skip through all the set-up screens without entering anything and get to the handset's homescreen.

9. At the i1 homescreen, press Menu hard key, select Settings.

10. Scroll down to SDcard & phone storage.

11. Select Master Clear & tap on Reset phone to initiate Master Clear.

12. Handset will power cycle on its own. When coming back up, the Motorola emblem will reappear.

13. Let phone complete power up process.

14. Once complete, you will start back at the Setup Wizard again to input all their previously used credentials. Complete set-up. Make sure you re-enter a working Gmail account so you can access security lock reset, marketplace, and other vital features of the handset in the future with no issues.





**To reach all the buttons at the same time when performing reset, it is recommended to hold phone in left hand with Thumb pressed on volume up and down keys. With right hand, press index finger on green button, press middle finger on "OK" center button and then press "red" button with either pinky or other finger.
