it sucks, but apparently it has something to do with a UICC card that is installed in the new android phone they released called the Samsung Craft, which isn't really a sim card it's really just a MIN in card format, it authenticates the phone to the network and it can't be used in any other phones, and you can't take it out (for reasons unknown). Also, despite the fact that this is one of the few android phones on the metro pcs line up (LG Optimus M and Huawei Ascend) allegedly this is the only one that is 4G compatible, which seems to me like a waste of money for all who went out and bought a new MetroPCS android phone before 4G was available in their area.

hopefully we as a community can figure out a way around this and get the 4G towers to work for all Metro phones maybe?
