Marine General Joseph Dunford, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, did not rule out the possibility of a “horrific” conflict. Although admitting that such a war would involve massive loss of life, General Dunford said it was his duty to prepare military options in order to protect US citizens.
