Google is pressing pause on its efforts to build Pixel laptops (http://www.pcworld.com/article/2908499/laptop-computers/review-googles-chromebook-pixel-excels-as-both-a-machine-and-as-an-idea.html), leaving the in-house premium brand to tablets (http://www.greenbot.com/article/3012675/android/google-pixel-c-review.html) and phones (http://www.pcworld.com/article/3131306/android/pixel-xl-review-googles-new-phone-isnt-a-nexusits-better.html?page=2).
The company’s hardware chief, Rick Osterloh, recently told reporters during Mobile World Congress in Spain that Google had “no plans” to create a new Chromebook Pixel, according to TechCrunch (https://techcrunch.com/2017/02/28/google-calls-time-on-the-pixel-laptop/). For now, Google is leaving it up to third-party Chromebook makers like Asus, Acer, HP, and Samsung to fill in the gaps.
