Google’s new pair of Pixel phones are very popular with Android fans-right now, and they’re probably the best iPhone 7 alternative you can-buy. It’s very likely that Google already has a next-gen Pixel 2 family of high-end Android handsets in mind, and a fresh rumor offers us the first known detail about the company's upcoming second-generation phones. According to 9to5Google’s Stephen Hall, “waterproofing definitely coming with next Pixel device.” Apparently, Hall learned this little tidbit all the way back in October, but he forgot about it. https://twitter.com/hallstephenj/status/824298833110827008 Hall also noted on Twitter that Google decided against making the Pixel and Pixel XL waterproof because it was a time constraint and “internal conflict between hardware (namely, camera) and/or waterproofing vs. price point.” The feature, however, is far from being confirmed, and Hall notes that he only shared it via Twitter as it’s not corroborated at this point. https://twitter.com/hallstephenj/status/824299584134389761 Considering that the Pixel 2’s most important upcoming rivals — the iPhone 8 and the Galaxy S8 — will be waterproof, it seems very likely that Google will also want to offer-the feature. The LG G6 is also expected to offer-the same degree of water-resistance as other top phones. The Pixel phones may be popular devices, but they don’t have the same status as the iPhone or the Galaxy S when it comes to rumors. Little is known at this time about Google’s plans for its second generation of Pixel phones. But it’s likely they’re going to launch at some point in October, so there’s plenty of time for Pixel 2 rumors between now and then.
