:^/ I like how the newer version is simpler than what we had earlier, and how the gaps between one rank and the next gets wider as one goes along. In keeping with that, I think that Senior Member should be 251 instead of 301. It'd still be over double the rank before it, and only half the rank after it.

;^) I also like that users with over a thousand posts can customize their titles. This encourages them to participate more. Of course, said title would have to be approved by staff.

That's who I wanted to hear from, suggestion applied and edits made above.

I've actively been helping on palringo, but have not posted much here. I have been meaning to get on more and get active, but due to time constraints, it has been impossible since launch. I like the concepts of the new ranking, but wish there could be some reward for quality of postings (such as the "thanks")...

I think some of the forum polices itself, sort of. Meaning those that ask for help all of the time and rarely even bother to help someone else in need, generally get ignored after a while. As people are on the forum more, they realize that a post count really means little. If that person has 1000 posts and all you see in their posts is "search" "google is your friend" then they will not have a very good rep to begin with. That is the biggest reason for the thank you button.

I like what has been done with the site so far. It has come a long way since February. I think the ceiling is pretty high for this forum.

Too bad the chat box doesn't count towards posts ;)

I like the quantification in this thread's opening post.
my post count creeps very slowly upwards, since I mostly try to only post useful info...
sure will enjoy getting my avatar up after a while.
I didn't vote in the poll, since I haven't been around long enough to compare old and new...
BTW, I really liked this sticky ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) (also by whitey10tc) for more info on the ranks, since it includes specifics of the permissions granted with the rankings.
<edit> man, it's gonna take me a while to get to the 51 post count for my avatar if I keep my posts useful. </edit>

I like the new user ranking system as it makes the site a little more fun. I personally believe that people shouldn't put that much importance on the post count; however, others do which is unfortunate for users with low post counts such as myself.

Like the previous post, I try to only post replies that add value to the forum. Few things are more frustrating than trying to find information in a forum full of useless comments... Nevertheless, it's nice to know that the veteran users (like smitty) realize that the post count has little meaning.
