Sharing GIFs, short videos, and Live Photos is now possible in WhatsApp, as long as you have an iPhone. The functionality is built in other popular instant messaging apps, including Facebook’s Messenger, its other valuable chat platform. Apple’s iMessage also does GIFs. But it’s only now that WhatsApp is beginning to-see the light. DON’T MISS: What happens if today’s Presidential election ends in a tie? As Phone Arena reports , GIF support is coming to Android soon, although there’s no specific launch date for it yet. WhatsApp for iPhone , meanwhile, comes with a new GIF search engine. Furthermore, you can send six-second videos and Live Photos as GIF animations, but the feature requires iPhone 6s or iPhone 7 to work — 3D Touch is involved in turning a Live Photo into a GIF file. GIF files can be further customized with text and emoji, and users can trim clips if they so desire. iPhone users can also save favorite GIF clips for quick access. If you have WhatsApp installed on your iPhone, you’ll be able to use the GIF-sharing feature instantly, as long as you’re running the latest version of the app — grab it here. Finding the GIF menu is a little trickier. You have to click the + sign in the bottom left corner, tap on Photo & Video Library , and tap on the GIF Search option that appears in the same bottom left corner. Then, you’ll be able to search for GIFs, share them with contacts, and save favorite ones so you can be that person who keeps annoying their-contacts with the same GIFs over and over.
