Shortly after Pokemon Go launched, dedicated fans began creating map trackers which could reliably show players where Pokemon were spawning out in the world. Niantic decided that these trackers broke the rules of the game , and so within a few weeks, the developer had shut down a majority of them. Now, months later, one of the most popular trackers is coming back online . As Pokemon Go Hub explains, "trackers lost the ability to scrape data from Niantic’s servers" when update 0.39.0 began rolling out. The creator of FastPokeMap immediately got to work on cracking the API once again, and although his timetable was originally two weeks, but within just three days, he and several volunteers managed to make a significant amount of progress. So much progress, in fact, that they expect FastPokeMap to return this weekend: https://twitter.com/FastPokeMapCom/status/786315931173748736 With the API reversed and FastPokeMap primed to return, the creator decided to provide Niantic with some unwarranted (but interesting) criticism about the changes the company is making to the game and the effect on the community: "We'll keep reversing your game as long as your game is popular.-FastPokeMap will continue to come back no matter how hard you try to kill it.-But if you keep trying to kill it don't be surprised if soon there won't be anyone playing your game anymore." You can read the rest of his letter right here . In the meantime,- FastPokeMap should be online in the coming days.
