The Galaxy S7 should get some stale Nougat sometime soon

One in every three iOS devices that support Apple’s latest iOS release already run iOS 10, and that percentage will only increase in the coming days. Meanwhile, Android 7.0 Nougat is only installed on Nexus handsets and tablets. This year’s Android flagships will all get Android 7.0 sooner or later, but there’s still some waiting in store. Samsung confirmed the Galaxy Note 7 would get Nougat by November , and the company is apparently already testing the new Android release on the Galaxy S7. DON’T MISS: Android user switches to iPhone 7 from pure Android and has some surprising opinions Samsung has not announced anything yet, and you can’t get into any sort of beta program that will let you run an early version of Nougat on Samsung’s Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge. But a Geekbench result indicates that at least someone out there is using a Galaxy S7 edge that’s running a build of Android 7.0. Just because the phone is running Nougat, don’t expect it to fare any better in benchmark test than in the past. We’re still looking at scores of around 2000 in single core and 5500 in multi-core tests. The phone version spotted on Geekbench packs an octa-core chip, meaning we’re looking at a Samsung-made Exynos mobile CPU. And it's probably an unlocked device,-which-would make it easier for Samsung-to push updates to. That, however, isn’t an indication that a Nougat update is coming soon to the Galaxy S7 series or the Galaxy Note 7 for that matter. It just shows that Samsung is probably already testing Google’s recently released Android 7.0. Meanwhile, LG’s V20 is the first new Android handset to run Nougat out of the box. And it’s very likely that Google’s upcoming Pixel phones will also run a version of Nougat right out of the gate.
