Samsung has been criticized for the manner in which it conducted its recall of the Galaxy Note7, after multiple overheating batteries caught fire and exploded. Instead of starting off working with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the company began its own voluntary recall (http://www.greenbot.com/article/3119205/android/official-recall-for-exploding-galaxy-note-7-phones-coming-samsung-and-us-confirm.html).
Only on September 9th, a week after the fiasco began, did the company mention it was working with the CSPC (http://news.samsung.com/us/2016/09/09/samsung-confirms-engagement-with-cpsc-consumer-product-safety-commission-in-response-to-note7-battery-issue/). On Thursday, the CSPC made the recall official on its own site (http://www.cpsc.gov/en/Recalls/2016/Samsung-Recalls-Galaxy-Note7-Smartphones/), while providing a little more information about the severity of the situation: in the U.S. alone, Samsung has reported-92 cases of the batteries overheating, including 26 reports of burns and 55 reports of property damage, including fires in cars and a garage.
