Is it possible to flash a phone without plugging it into your pc?

I broke the usb port on my lg voyager and don't have the supplies (if you will) to repair it. Does anyone know if I can do anything inside the phone's user interface and software to sort of flash it to metro pcs? Also, is it true that I can write a prl to the phone via bluetooth? And lastly, if I go to metro pcs and have them add the esn to their database for the $25 the guy at the counter said it costs, will that automatically make any call I make redirect to a metro pcs tower?

Change Firmware via something other than USB, do you have a JTAG rig?

You SHOULD be able to access the EFS via Bluetooth... that should let you make quite a few major changes including PRL. I'm just not certain about this particular model.

Last I read, metro dealers should be charging $10 to add the ESN to the system. This may have changed though and I guess it could be market specific... anyway, that alone will not 'redirect' all of your calls through Metro.

Back to the USB issue... since you were going to probably go straight USB anyway, skip trying to fix the port itself and just wire up the USB pins to a cable and then after the flash, unhook them. Do you have a different way to charge your battery though? Is it that you just don't have a USB Port to use, are having trouble getting the port off or is it that you just don't have a proper soldering station?

the usb port on the phone is broken, I charge the battery in another phone on which the charging port works. What is JTAG? and I'll try it via bluetooth, and no I don't have a proper soldering station.

samsung u310 can be done on the phone, so can some treos and there are probably more. On old phones you can change the sid and turn off the prl and *228 to get the cricket prl and then enable prl and BAM in your face goes a flashed phone!!!!!!!!!!!

can u do that on an LG Voyager? like, i see the option to disable the prl but it just wont let me. as in the option is grayed out. Also, what about for metro pcs?

you could try *22804 and just keep moving up till you get *22809 and see if you pick it up a tower for activations. This works with cricket with out needing to change anything like SID's or anything. But of course will only flash it for talk and text.

Go into program menu, ##program10000 then somewhere in there you should be able to disbale the prl, and then change the sid to 5450 and then dial *228 may have to do it a couple times but when the phone programs successfully it will restart and then go back in the program menu and re-enable the prl and program your min and mdn and BAM IN YOUR FACE GOES TALK AND TEXT!!!!

I have flashed a lot of phones (usually Qualcomm chipset Lg's from Verizon or Alltel) manually. It usually takes three to five minutes and I do it either when I dont have a computer or data cable immediately available .

The following codes are used to flash to Cricket in the Phoenix Area, the SID is 4923, and ota programming is *22804. These will be different for other cities and carriers.
The steps are :

1) Go into NAM programming (on many LG's simply Menu 0 followed by 6 digit SPC, then "Service Prg") If the SPC isnt 000000 and you cant get it it (try social engineering), this method is not for you.

2) Very Important - Make a note of the current SID (Verizon is usually 48, Alltel 55), since the PRL points to these sids (and we cannot update the PRL from the keyboard), we need to put that sid as the only entry int the Lockout SID/NID table in the phone. If the phone does not have a lockout table this method will probably not work. LG phones have an entry for "PRL ENabled" but I have never figures out how to disable the PRL - This may be an alternative to the Lockout SID table.

3) then we set the Home SID to 4923, & other desired NAM changes, then exit NAM programming and change the Settings/System entry from Automatic (A or B) to Home only, we reboot the phone (or wait a little while) and voila, the phone should have found the 4923 SID . At this point, 611 & *228 should go to Cricket (sometimes *22804 will work when 611 & *228 do not go to Cricket). When the OTA completes you will then have a cricket PRL loaded into the phone and the System Entry will go back to Automatic and the Lockout table becomes meaningless.

Ok thank you. When talking to ntelos they are telling me it's not possible to connect my phone at all without flashing it. I have changed my number into the phone, MEID, mmsc url, the server and server port. What else should I change? Also 611 directs me to ntelos/frawg now not ntelos so I guess I'm heading in the right direction. Any additional help is so greatly appreciated!!!:)
