Sugar Land, Texas has become the center of scrutiny over a statue recently erected in front of the city's town hall. The statue features two smiling woman, slightly hunched over as one of them snaps a selfie with a phone. SEE ALSO: Couple stranded on cliffside ledge saved by a selfie Image: Reddit- Outrage grew over the statue, and many were upset because they considered it a waste of taxpayer money, but the statue was actually donated by a town resident. - Others were just upset with the mere concept of the statue.- According to documents from the town, the statues were donated by resident Sandy Levin. A press release from the town states that the statue is part of a 10-piece collection, and will be located at Sugar Land Memorial Park, Oyster Creek Park and Fire Station 4 in First Colony. "There was no objection to the donation and proposed location so the project progressed," the agenda request reads.- The document also states that "the sculptures will be of people representing activities that occur in the Square."
