Despite the impossibly high expectations from fans who had been waiting years for it, Star Wars: The Force Awakens managed to capture the imagination of the filmgoing public, quickly becoming one of the highest grossing movies-ever. That said, it wasn't quite as straightforward or cohesive as A New Hope , it's primary inspiration. So until we see more from the new slate of Star Wars filmmakers, we're stuck poring over several unsolved mysteries. For example, we know why C-3PO has a red arm , but who exactly is this Supreme Leader Snoke? Even with just a few moments of screen time during The Force Awakens , it seems clear that he will play a major role throughout the sequel trilogy. Another question on everyone's mind: what purpose is Luke going to serve going forward? Finding him was the cruz of Force Awakens , but now that he and Rey have met, where do they go and what do they do? Finally, the biggest mystery set up by The Force Awakens has to be that of Rey's parents. Everyone has their own theory — she's Luke's daughter, she's Kylo Ren's brother, she's Obi-Wan Kenobi's daughter — but we're going to have to wait until at least late 2017 to find out (but possibly even-2019).
