If you own an iPhone, it’s unlikely that you use every single app that comes pre-installed on the device. Well, soon you may be able to hide those pesky apps that stick around no matter how little you use them. The news comes from AppAdvice, which notes that the App Store JSON data source has recently added a few very interesting keys. These keys suggest that Apple may allow users to hide apps they don’t need in the near future. Goodbye, Stocks! Related:- Download these 5 awesome new apps for iOS and Android To get technical, the internal API keys include ‘isFirstParty’ and ‘isFirstPartyHideableApp.’ In other words,-a key has been made to be able to hide first party apps, or apps made by Apple. It’s entirely possible that you’ll only be able to hide some of the apps, such as the Stocks app or the Tips app, both of which aren’t often used. It’s also possible that Apple is planning on releasing-extra apps to the app store, and only those first-party apps will vanish from your home screen on demand. If that’s the case, then not every Apple app will be possible to hide. Still, Apple CEO Tim Cook did hint at a feature to hide stock apps in a recent interview with Buzzfeed. “There are some apps that are linked to something else on the iPhone. If they were to be removed, they might cause issues elsewhere on the phone,” he said. “There are other apps that aren’t like that. So over time, I think with the ones that aren’t like that, we’ll figure out a way [for you to remove them]. … It’s not that we want to suck up your real estate; we’re not motivated to do that. We want you to be happy. So I recognize that some people want to do this, and it’s something we’re looking at.” The change could also mean that stock Apple apps are set to become a little less dependent on iOS, which would potentially allow Apple to push updates to the app store rather than waiting for the next iOS update. This could be very helpful if, for example, a security bug is found inside an app. Rather than having to download a new version of the operating system, you could just get an app update, similar to how you would with a third-party app. Of course, none of this is confirmed right now, but it’s possible that we’ll learn how to make annoying stock apps invisible when Apple introduces iOS 10 at WWDC 2016.
