Sad, sad day indeed. The original Motorola Droid is now listed as “out of stock” on VerizonWireless.com. We had received word that this had happened a few days ago, but were unable to produce the same image and continued to hold out some hope that it was a regional thing. It’s not.

It was a good almost 9 month run wouldn’t you say? Time for it’s replacement. A locked down beast. The Droid 2.

Let's hope Motorola leaves it truely open source for use to really enjoy....

Well, look what we have here. It appears to be the Droid 2s pricing and information from Bestbuy. The Droid 2 looks like it is going to be running Moto blurr, it also states that the OS is 2.2. Droid life says that they have been given enough insight that they are expecting it TODAY to be the day. So if you need to have this one it will be $199 with a new two year from Best Buy, or $599 cash out . Now on Verizon it will be $299 with a $100 mail in rebate.

I can only say this personally "good riddance" I'm not a Moto fan at all. I like the Droid because of the simplicity to flash but not a Moto Fan and probably will never buy one myself.

Moto Droid was the best device Motorola had made to that point...Droid X is greatly improved upon it...too bad the Droid 2 isn't enough of an advancement

It's almost the same device :(
I guess they are taking the old saying of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" too far...but if it ain't broke...don't remake it o.O
