Android N rumors and news: No app drawer, stylus support, and more

Nutella? We’re not sure what sweet, tasty treat Android N will be named after yet, but the rumors about what changes it will bring to the world’s most popular mobile platform are already flying. Related:- The best Android apps for almost any occassion Of course, all of this is just early speculation, so remember to take the reports with a grain of salt. When will we see Android N? We expect to see Android N announced-at Google’s developer conference Google I/O, which is scheduled to start on May 18, but the final version probably won’t launch until the fall. Android 6.0 Marshmallow was announced last May, but it didn’t roll out until-October. We may have a solid idea of when Android N is going to make its debut, but what will it bring for Android users? Wave goodbye to the app drawer While iOS just adds every new app you install to the home screen, Android has always allowed you to pick and choose, tucking the complete list away in a dedicated app drawer. Two separate sources have reportedly-told Android Authority-that there’s no app drawer in pre-release builds of Android N. Related:- Google Pixel C review Google tweaked the app drawer in Marshmallow to switch to a vertically scrolling list instead of horizontal pages, but it may have now decided to ditch the drawer altogether. That would presumably mean new apps icons would be added to the home screen after each install, just like the iPhone. Assuming the rumor proves true, you’ll still be able to organize apps away into folders and reposition them, but it could make accessing the full list of your installed apps and games just a little trickier, though you can always find them in Settings > Apps. If anyone’s really going to miss the app drawer, we’re sure you’ll be able to install a launcher and get it back. Split screen is coming A Reddit A.M.A. with the Google team that built the Pixel C revealed that split screen, otherwise known as multi-window, will be coming in Android N as part of an effort to improve the tablet experience. That means you’ll be able to have two apps open at once side-by-side for better multitasking.-It’s something that most Android manufacturers already offer through their UIs, but it would still be a welcome addition to stock Android. Stylus support as standard Samsung may have given us a clue about forthcoming stylus support in Android N when it revealed certain S Pen features would be deprecated in the next version of the platform-via its developer page. The fact that it’s dropping-AirButton, SmartClip, and WritingBuddy has sparked some speculation that Google might be folding some kind of stylus support into Android N.
